Hello, does anyone here know Apple's return policy really well? I received an un-upgraded MacBook Pro 2.4 ghz laptop as a gift today and I'm wondering if there is a way I can return it without a receipt. It is completly new and unopened, I just got it today. I want to return it for store credit so I can buy the glossy screen version and upgrade the hard drive to the 7200 RPM version. The only problem is that I don't have a receipt. Do you think the local Apple Retail Store will let me return it and give store credit? I'd do an even exchange in the store, but I think the 160 GB 7200 RPM drive is web order only (If it's not, please let me know).

Thanks in advance!

They might be ok with it. You could just explain to the manager and see what they say.

If you can take the card it was paid with, or better the person and the card it was paid with that would be better.

Or - you could ask the person who bought it to pop in and get you a gift receipt.

Best of luck
