VPN Server Hangup

I am running the vpn server in OSX 10.4 and i try to connect from my mac using the external ip and it hads out the ip and then disconnects me. though when i connect to the server directly using the servers internal IP from inside the network it works. i checked the router with nework utility and it told me that the port for pptp is open but there is something going on with the server. please help if there is a work around that would help.

Here is a copy of the _Log File_.

I've got the same problem trying to use vpn at our school and I've stopped the Firewall with no success. There will be a firewall on the gateway/router but this is not controlled by the school, however it does allow communication with the server from home but hangs up with a communication error.

I assume as my mac talks to the server and authenticates (according to the vpn log) it must be a setting on the server side?

Any help would be appreciated.
