Photoshop CS, Dreamweaver 8, Adobe Reader all suddenly failing to launch.

Photoshop CS, Dreamweaver 8, Adobe Reader all suddenly failing to launch.

The icon bounces once, then the little triangle disappears. This problem started around August 24th. This is on an eMac (PPC). No new software of any kind has been installed on this mac, and in fact the only changes to the system were automatic updates from Apple.

No apple-branded applications have been affected (eg. mail, safari, preview all still launch fine).

This is making me leery of automatic updates. Can I trust Apple not to bork my machine after this?

Somebody, please help! Thanks.

More than likely it's a problem with the Adobe apps. Reinstall one of them and see if that fixes the problem. Alternatively, search the Adobe forums.

Reinstalling Adobe Reader fixed Adobe Reader.

Reinstalling Dreamweaver 8 did not fix Dreamweaver 8, I tried getting rid of all the different preferences folders and files, and still Dreamweaver 8 will not launch even after it is reinstalled.

Why would all my Adobe apps suddenly not work?

Because Adobe puts crud all over the place which end up getting corrupted. They're very unfriendly apps. You might want to peruse the Adobe forums (if they exist) and see if anyone else is having a problem with them.
