How red is the 3rd gen product(red) nano?

Personally, I find the color (Red) of my second gen Nano to be by far the nicest colored product I've EVER owned (and I'm an old guy! ). I'm wondering if Apple used a focus group to pick the colors. Perhaps it was the daughter of some well placed VP and no one at Apple wanted to argue?? IF Jobs picked the colors, all I can say is his taste in colors has taken a drastic turn for the worse since the second gen nano was conceived. I still think that every color but silver was a winner, on the 2nd gens.

I have a red 2nd gen nano and its a rich, vibrant red. The pics of the 3rd gen give the impression to me they are more pink than red. That would suck, if they really are a wimpy, washed out red.

I agree. It seems that the new red isn't quite as red as it is a mixture of red and pink 😟

I saw it in the store today and it's more of a maroon than anything.. it's really pretty though, definitely worth a look.

Just got one, it's not bright red or pink. In most lighting situations it looks like a slightly less saturated red. Not necessarily much darker, more like it's a thinner layer of red with a dark grey undercoat (if you can picture that). It's still 'red'. It just isn't well... 'tornado red'.

I bought one. It's a sparkly cranberry.

just saw them in person. awful color to be called "Red". It's darkish, tending toward maroon. whatever it is, it is NOT red, in the normal sense.

The pics on Apple site makes red look pinkish.

The new nano looks like a deeper red, not the bright holiday red of the 2G.

I wouldn't call the new one "red" either. I picked one up because I liked the color, but I would call it more of a maroon. Definitely not pinkish as some people mentioned, if anything more of a purple toned red. Kinds of reminds me of the "merlot" color in the Colorado Avs Jerseys (which being an Avs fan) is one of the things I liked about it <g>

I bought one yesterday from the Apple Store in Meadowhall and it's a maroon red, not as bright as the 2nd generation Nano, in no way pink, and it's just an amazing colour. I was undecided between the black and the red, but I was lucky as the manager of the Apple store came over and helped me decide, as she said the red was her personal choice over the black as it was more distinctive and made more of a statement, as well as helping a good cause too!

Thrilled with it - can't wait to get my iPod touch in a few weeks time, on the 28th!

compared to the old one, the new one looks more reddish/maroonish. When you look at the two next to each other, the old one looks more orange.

Sorry, but just my two cents. My wife has the 2nd gen Red Nano. We love the color of it. When the 3rd gen came out, I went out and grabbed the red first thing. The color looks a little off in the store, but I figured it was the lighting. Anyway, when i got home, i felt it looked a little more rasberry, less red. Unfortunatly under different lighting situations, it can come across as pink. As proof, when I brought it to work, two different people asked me why I got a pink iPod. That settled it for me, it went back. I now have Black (And Love it, the new Nano Rocks!).

As it turns out, the color of (PRODUCT)RED is "Blood Red" and blood has a hint of maroon. The old iPod nano's weren't blood red they were more of a fire red. So in actuality, the new red nano is the proper red.
