Insert pagebreak on score editor?

Is it possible to insert a pagebreak in the score editor?

Anyone who have made a composition with several, separated, sections should've needed it. No mention in the manual.

I've tried by moving measures down (i think i did it with the layout tool, similar way that using the "max measure per line" parameter) to find the best page view and arrangement. But is tedious and not enough to do a simple pagebreak, and of course not elegant and simple way!

i am deeply hopeful we might see some improvements in the score editor in the next logic version, whenever that may be, god knows we need them.

but for now, the way to page break is:

this is how i make up parts where page turns are a problem - for example if you need to stick a page on to make a 3 page fold out.
- cut your region at the point you wish to make the page break.
- either turn off 'justify last bar/staff' or get it looking right with page layout tool.
- mute the region not to be printed.
- print pdf
- when you make the next pdf, you can put in an offset for the page numbers.
- turn off show names, delete the title (undo after you have printed pdf).

then again you could just wait to see if they have page breaks in LP8... 🙂

i wouldn't have thought so (there are so many other things the score needs) but you never know...

hola... bienvenu rampol 🙂 You have come to the right place for score editor geeks..

I am guessing that you want to have a section of music staves finish and then a blank space on the same page before the next staves of music, like a paragraph? Here is what I would do:

- line the regions up on the same track and where you want a 'page break' effect drag the specific region and all that follow a few bars along in time. This will create a blank gap with no stave lines. Then check the score in page view and see if it looks as you want it.

- experiment the option "justify last stave" which spreads the last stave all along the page ( even if it is only a few bars long) or compresses it leaving a nice gap

* * *

If the above is not what you want, and it is more a question of the number of staves or lines of music on a page, then experiment with two things:

- go to the View Menu and select Print view. Blue and green lines will appear. Try dragging them around until the right number of staves appear on each page.

- Go to Layout..>Score Styles and experiment i) with the font size of the score and ii) experiment with the Space numbers... the column with the little arrows and numbers

good luck

PS .. just read what Rohan has written above: pay closer attention to what he writes. I am like a 'junior doctor' on the subject of the Score Editor. I am still doing my housemanship. Whereas you have had the luck to have the Consultant Score Editor early on his round in the Logic Hospital. It has been a difficult summer with many senior staff - such as Prof iSchwartz - on indefinite leave...

Also thanks spirit! But I've already tried some about your solution, but it's not a good choice. Not always i can move/drag a track (i don't want to assume any risk to move automation data, loose synch, remember where exactly were that track, etc.) just for a simple pagebreak insert. I think a good solution is mentioned above, by cutting and muting zones before the desired pagebreak.
Anyway, thanks again, and also thanks to the welcome you gave me to the forum.

indeed... rampol - point taken about moving regions around not a helpful idea. I also learnt from Rohan's post: in particular the value of printing first to PDF on the desk top for a general proof read and building up the parts on the desktop page by page.

Also the idea of deleting temporarily something from the score so that particular page looks right in PDF and then Undoing once you have a clean copy of that page.
