Mic threshold?

Is there a way or a 3rd party program that can be used to set a mic threshold value so the audio channel isn't open to keep others from hearing light background noise while I'm not talking? I'm aware of Audio Hijack Pro but is there a cleaner method.

We need and app or utility or Plug-in for iChat Audio that can filter the Ambient noise.

I see someone posted about an App that did for Audio what Funny Photographer does for Pics (I thought it was Defcom)

I have searched for "Does what Funny Photograher" in iSight, iChat and external places like Version Tracker but have had no luck. I also looked in the Download links here at Apple.

"Start talking and you’re halfway there. GarageBand’s Speech Enhancer improves the sound of your voice, going so far as to simulate a professional mic — even if you’re not using one. "

With a Mac, you can even record iChat sessions for a talk show

"You can even record your video chats for a podcast. The included GarageBand program simultaneously records the audio from your chat and assigns different tracks to each participant — identified by buddy name and icon — for easy editing. GarageBand even captures a real-time still image every time each guest speaks, perfect for the podcast artwork. Great for pros and aspiring talk show hosts alike."

(guess they don't mean post production)

Correction,

My previous post is not the right way for you to go.
Try this from the Apple menu:
System preferences>sound>input> tick the box.

Hope this was what you were looking for.
Of course the mac users you are audio conferencing with need to do these settings as well to have the right effect on your end.
