Has anyone been able to get a refund from American Express?

I understand their Best Value Guarantee has been discontinued as of Oct 2006. Is there another service they offer that would help me get $200 back?

I called this morning and was refunded $200 plus tax. I checked my account and she said it would take 24-48 hours to post. She gave me a reference number. I checked online and sure enough, it's posted. She said that AMEX is going to capitalize on Apple's failure to make customer's happy. The program's intent is to return a defect program that a company will not return. However, they are making exceptions and offering the price difference for the iphone. I was pleased with American Express. This company truly knows customer service.

Are you kidding? I can't imagine AMEX doing this. Why on earth would they give you $200? Apple's actions have no bearing on AMEX. I bought my iPhone with my AMEX card but I'm not sure I'll even waste my time calling them and being laughed at when I ask for $200 back. Apple did absolutely nothing illegal. They can change the price every day if they want.

I'm angry that they lowered the price and I think it's horrible business practice and even worse customer service. But it's their preogative to do it.

How AMEX factors into that is beyond me.

The price matching program ended in 2006, but they have a Return Protection Program that assures that you can return an item (up to $300) within the first 90? days.

So, call 1-800-297-8019, select the option for new claim. Tell the agent that you want to return the iPhone and the store policy is 14 days only. They have had many calls about the iPhone already. Tell them that you want to re-purchase the iPhone at the new price of $399 rather than do a full return. The agent then said to me "so, you just want to get a credit for the difference? Yes."...

She took my info: model #, store loaction, charge amount, date & e-mail and told me it would take up to 2 weeks to process the claim and they would notify me by e-mail and the credit would be issued to my card, and she gave me a claim number.

She did tell me that this program does not cover price matching, but because of the circumstances &
Apple's return policy, it shouldn't be a problem. I guess there is a chance that they could refuse the claim because the return amount has a limit of $300... But come on, I pay $75/each for my GOLD cards.

Has anyone been able to get a refund from American Express?
