Screw steve jobs and apple

this is a bunch of crap. anyone who bought an iphone should get the 100 dollar rebate. Steve can save his crap explanation for someone who believes it. and i also don't think it should matter where you bought the iphone. either way apple got the money for the iphone. i'm done with apple and this is the last purchase I make from them.

Yeah, because your alternative (MS) is such the model corporate citizen. Apple has not "screwed" you. Apple hyped the product, and got the media all involved. In turn, you probably got all hot and bothered over the "NEED" to get this brand spanking new product, and you forked over your money. Thereafter, Apple dropped the price. Why? Who knows..sales may not have been so good...Apple may have decided to try and broaden their customer base by reducing the price. Whatever.

I too forked over my money on June 29th after sitting in line. I'm the idiot for sitting in line, but do I regret it? No. It was a nice break from work and I have a stellar product, which you couldn't pry from my cold, dead hands. This move (price drop and expansion of customer base) will benefit the consumer of the iPhone in the long run (the reason why is too long to explain here). If you can't afford to be an early adopter, then wait. Get some impulse control.

Nonetheless, since you have decided to "quit" Apple forever, then goodbye. You'll be back. And, what's worse, you know it.

Not at all. Apple made their core customers very angry, no doubt about it. But after listening to them Jobs admitted they goofed ("...we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers...") and then offered an olive branch in the form of a $100 gift card for apple stores.

Is it a refund? Nope. But be realistic (if you can) and recognize that a company can't refund thousands upon thousands of customers in a situation like this because it will set a dangerous precedent for them and impede their willingness in the future to lower prices or introduce improved products because they know everyone will rise up in a storm and say "REFUND REFUND, you did it before, REFUND". Not smart.

So IMO Jobs did it right: We goofed, here's proof we're sorry.

To me it was never about the $200, it was about apple mis-treating it's loyal fans. IMO they've fixed the problem.
