Print highlighted area

I don' think such an option exists for most applications in OS X, and I'm having a hard time remembering where such an option exists in any Windows applications?

The only thing I can suggest is to copy the highlighted section and paste it into TextEdit.

Doing some more checking on this I found that after you highlight the text, you can click on the applications name and then select Services, then select New Windows Containing Selection. This will copy your text directly into a new TextEdit file, which you can then print or save...

Also found the selection option in Windows, but also found that not every application has the option.

Um, there are about a third of a gazillion different kinds of "Document" around. Did you have any particular format in mind?

There are generic tools that will work regardless of what you're looking at. If the portion of the object or document is visible on the screen, you can capture and print the section from the keyboard (Cmd-Shift-3 and Cmd-Shift-4 et al), or you can use the Grab tool within Mac OS X, or install and use something like Plasq's Skitch tool (in beta) to capture it. This is analogous to the Microsoft Windows Print Screen key; it's been two-thirds of an eon since I've even used that key...

Specific applications (document viewers) can also have specific options here, such as the Page Range available in Preview Print options and similar document viewers. That works nicely for PDF files, or stuff using Keynote, Pages or other such.

Poppins is right.
This is one feature that I do miss from Windoze.

Not that I use it very often, but every now and then it is useful to print something off a website, such as directions or instructions instead of fumbling all over the file in a text editor.

And suggest others who would like this feature implemented do the same.

This was a feature of the print menu (in Windoze), not of any particular application. The print menu had a toggle "Print selection" that knew what was selected in a document and would print only that.
