JT:
the coverflow is worthless a it stands was implied opinion, as i seriously doubt it can be considerd fact.

correct, it is not broken, and yes it is worthless as its implemented atm( to me )

i have so many cause i can,,, same why i bought a 6th gen and a Touch same day

my 5th gen 60GB will be relegated to my ExtremeMac Luna or Car.
6th Gen 80GB mostly for long trips,
iTouch for general use due to its Wifi

Previous Nano i ended up giving to my mother as she didnt have one, and she was starting to get into the whole music on the computer thing.

Photo i gave to a friend, he later got a 5.5Gen.

RON: agreed,i have my ID3 tags done almost perfectly why i dont want to do the "Workaround", i origionally used Media player years ago, but stoped when it completly messed up every ID3 tag for a coupel thousand songs that took me a couple days to fix

hey i'm with you... i'm extremely happy with my iPod Classic 80gb... sure beats the h3ll out of the 4gb Nano it replaced! I'm a big fan of constructive feedback rather than complaining... I'm a software engineer-turned-technical project manager so I'm sensitive to the fact that software will always have bugs... I always appreciate the customers that provide useful feedback about any problems they experience with my products... it's the ones that complain that the product is "broken" and write it off without even giving the developers a chance to fix the problem that annoy me, hehe.

This should be an option - not restricted to one way or the other. I want coverflow to sort by artist. This simulates looking thru music at a store - where each artist is tabbed and the albums are kept together. I have lots of compilations, and they should show up at the end as 'compilations' or 'various'. I see why others would want it by album name but with very large collections of a variety of music, i tend to know my stuff by artist way better than i do by album name.

yeah, I too submitted feedback yesterday using this link... I then noticed there was a v1.0.1 update for my iPod Classic with the release notes "bug fixes"... I was crossing my fingers hoping it would fix this Cover Flow issue but was let down when I saw that nothing had changed in this regard. Hopefully 1.0.2 will fix Cover Flow and will be released soon.

Another problem with Cover Flow AND regular album view is that it apparently does not read the "album artist" field. For example, Bob Seger Greatest Hits and Boston Greatest Hits appear under "Greatest Hits" with no distinction between the two. That's a little more than an inconvenience.

I filled out the feedback form (thanks for that) but it only went up through 5G Videos...no option to select the Classics. Sheesh.

Perhaps another way of putting this issue in context is that Coverflow on the iPod does not have the same sort flexibility that Coverflow in iTunes does. When I sort my library by artist, album, etc. in iTunes it re-orders Coverflow accordingly.

As has been pointed out here, the current iPod Coverflow only allows one sort option... by artist.

Would be nice if Coverflow had the same sort capabilities on both.
