No option to manually manage music NO TAB FOR IT

Hi

I have a second gen ipod shuffle. I put an audio book onto it and deleted it form itunes. It has also been deleted from the ipod 😟

I have been reading on the net that you need to plug in the ipod, go to itunes and click on it and then click setting and click the box that says manually manage music.

I have Itunes 7.4 and when i go to setting there is NO OPTION that says manually manage music to check!!!

Whats going on, i have the latest edition of itunes and my ipod software is up to date. Yet he option to manually manage music can not be found.

I want to be able to delete things from itunes without them disappearing from my ipod.

Any help appreciated.

2nd gen ipod shuffle, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

NEWSFLASH: There is NO "manually magage music" option/box/tab for the shuffle in iTunes since the shuffle is ALREADY in a manual mode.

What you're really complaining about is that iTunes performs an automatic "update"
(aka "sync") each time the shuffle is connected AND deletes any content from the shuffle that isn't in iTunes' library. You can only prevent this behavior by UN checking the option box that "Open iTunes when this iPod is connected"... That way you can charge your shuffle without losing its contents.
