Does iPhone need a case?

I checked out videos with people trying to scratch the screen with knives, keys and such and they couldn't. I'm mainly worried about the touch screen but also the case. I don't want any scratches on my screen, so does iPhone need a case to prevent scratches?

I will get one if I have to, but I don't exactly want one because I don't want anything covering up the gorgeous look of the iPhone. Plus I can't exactly find a case that looks good.

Thanks

I think it depends on how careful you are. I am pretty bad when it comes to cell phones. I have a razr which I am keeping that I drop from time to time, so now it looks like its been through a war. As a result I felt the need to get a case. I went with the iskin revo which which seems to protect it fairly well, although I still dont think that with this it would withstand a drop of more than 1-2 feet.

RE: http://www.case-mate.com/phones/apple

I recommend these as well -- very sleek, and the model I got includes a plastic screen protector. The belt clip is VERY handy when using the iPhone placed on a table or even held in your hand. I don't use the beltclip to attach to my belt, but it keeps the phone handy when it's inside my pocket with the beltclip keeping it atop my pocket (if I explained that right lol)

Any one that isn't in a styrofoam padded room needs a case for any phone let alone the a phone that costs as much as this one. I bought two cases from Apple one was a holster which broke after 3 days of just pulling the iPhone in and out of it, then I bought a silicone case which when the iPhone was taken out the first time, it got dirt in the case which scratched the screen. Then I bought two cases from Marware.com's website; one a holster with a holder for the headphones, mostly useless, but as a holster it is strong, durable, relatively low profile, and, best of all, the iPhone can be reversed to show either the screen or the rear. The second case is a fully enclosed case called the Quick Vue which flips open so to show the screen so if just needing to glance at the screen you just flip it down. The headphone port is fully usable with this case and its good-looking, low profile, very strong, very supportive on the inside, its like keeping the iPhone in a styrofoam room.

I have now been using my iPHone since Day One without a case and without anything else on it or its screen. It rides around in my pocket all day long (albeit, by itself without anything else in that pocket). A couple times I've even accidently thrown my keys or change into the same pocket.

After 10 weeks of use, there isn't a scratch, a ding, a mark, or a scrape on either the iPhone or the metal backing.

Take that for what its worth because everyones personal usage will very.

The iPhone looks great without a case, and I think it's fine to use it without one if you can be sure that it won't take a spill. Although a "soft" case won't guarantee that the iPhone will remain intact if you drop it, it will provide some measure of protection.

I keep my iPhone in my shirt pocket, and it tends to slip out when I bend over. I have a Vaja holster case on order.

Though the phone looks great with no case, I feel the same way about it being too slippery. I bought the Case-mate open-front case. It's leather over a hard plastic shell and has a great look and feel. I haven't used the clip (yet); just keep it in my pocket. The iPhone can be pushed out of the case very easily if you want to dock it but I find it just as easy to simply plug the USB cable directly into the iPhone... this also makes it easier to use it while it's charging than when it's in the dock.
