Apple ID not working on iTunes Store - HELP

My apple ID works fine for apple, but when I try to use it at the iTunes store, it says there is a problem. When I try to create a new account for the iTunes store, it says I already have an account. It is driving me crazy, anyone else run into this?

acer aspire, Windows Vista, Using IPOD 30gb

I am having exact same problem. After about an hour on the phone with Apple, still not able to get into itunes even went so far as to take lap top to Starbucks, thinking it might be my LAN connection at home, paid for Tmobile and a cup of coffee, still not able to get into iTunes. Very frustrating, I had just bought 160GB ipod other person just bought a 30GB and they can't get into iTunes either. I wish iTunes and Apple would remedy this problem. So far they haven't. Being such a newbie with ipod, I don't know of another reputable company to get music and movies, etc.. from. Any suggestions so I can use my 160 GB classic ipod that does nothing at this point. I was hoping to use my ipod on trip to Australia in two weeks. Oh, I have my cable people coming today, I'll see if they can help. After that, I will go to computer service store.

Heya all,

I had the same problem upon using the store for the first time when I installed iTunes a few days ago. Support ended up sorting out the issue. I've cut & pasted their instructions below.

I am sorry that you still have not been able to finish setting up your account on the iTunes Store.

In order to use your account on the iTunes Store, you will need to change a few settings on your Apple ID via the MyInfo website.

1) Log into your Apple ID at http://myinfo.apple.com

2) After logging in, choose the link "Apple ID" from the left-hand sidebar.

3) Once on this screen, you will need to choose a security question and also set your birth day and month.

Once you have followed these steps, you should be able to log into the iTunes Store and successfully set a method of payment.
