Not working how?

If you are referring to a Yahoo Mail Plus or paid account, a plus account can be accessed as a POP account only with an email client and the Push protocol is for an IMAP account, not POP.

The free Yahoo account provided by Yahoo for all iPhone customers is a Push-IMAP account when selecting Yahoo as the account type when manually creating the account on the iPhone.

Push email hasn't worked reliably for me since the device was released. At one time I thought it could be because I had a pre-existing Yahoo Plus email account, so I created a test Yahoo Free account and added this to the iPhone also. Results were the same... Push so unreliable that it shouldn't be called push 😉 I just manually check now.

Seems that some folks have had success logging into their Yahoo email via the web, and then deleting/moving all their inbox messages... this seems to trigger the return of Push for some... for a -short- while.

Apple/Yahoo need to throw some resources at this and fix it SOON....

I figure out a way to get Yahoo mail to push to the iPhone consistently. It appears that Yahoo Mail Beta is causing the problem. I was only getting 10% of the emails pushed to me, but when I switched my mail back to Yahoo Mail classic (you can do this by clicking on a link at the top of your email screen when logged into directly to the webmail application), I have now gotten 100% of my mail pushed for two days solid. You just need to login and change to Yahoo Mail classic, and then delete your Yahoo account on your iPhone, recreate it, and reboot the iPhone.

Share I will!
Downgrade your account from Yahoo Plus if you don't need it. I believe it to be only Pull POP Mail and you need Push IMAP Mail.

Give it a day or two for bugs to come out from changing accounts. During that time, clean your inbox. Make folders if you want to keep your mail, try to get your inbox down to <5 e-mails.

If you are still having problems, keep calling Apple over and over until you get a product specialist who will try it on their phone. Call once a day and your call will get escalated.

Somehow, after following these steps, my Yahoo appears to be pushing.

Did the call to Apple help? Maybe they did something to my account at Yahoo, but that is speculation.

I have had the same problem the past few days after owning my iPhone for a couple of weeks, and I think I have found a work-around that resolves the issue, but it is too soon to know for sure.

Here's what I noticed:
1) I was travelling when I bought my iPhone, and Yahoo push e-mail worked perfectly the first couple of weeks
2) After coming home for the past couple of days, Yahoo push e-mail has been intermittent.
3) Since being at home, I have extensively used WiFi to connect to the internet

I believe there is a bug in the Mail app's Yahoo connector (for push e-mail) where it is not properly detecting a dead connection to Yahoo mail. I believe this happens because my phone connection is constantly changing between Wifi & EDGE.

To test this theory, I have disabled Wifi on my iPhone and I am using EDGE only, and Yahoo mail has worked perfectly so far. It has only been 1 day, so it is still too early to tell. I'll post updates to this thread as I learn more.
