Help, I lost the speech bubble!

Lost Speakable Items Bubble
Hi. I am running mac OS 10.4 on my macbook pro. It is connected to two external monitors. I usually leave it connected to the two monitors, but tonight, I disconnected it. I use speech constantly as part of my home network control system. After using my laptop and plugging it back into the external monitors, the speech bubble has disappeared. I can't find it, and speech recognition isn't working as well as it normally does. I tried turning speakable items off and restarting, killing the processes, and disconecting my laptop again, but I can't find the window. Can anyone help me figure out how to get the "bubble" back?

Thanks,

kivuli

hey man, i've found this solution, but cannot try now cos am not @ home on my mac r8 now.. (:

try and let me know..

1. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Speech.
2. Click Speech Recognition, then click Off next to " Speakable Items" and then click On again.
3. If the window still doesn’t appear, restart your computer.
4. If the window doesn't appear after restarting your computer, open the Preferences folder in your home Library folder. Drag the file named "com.apple.speech.recognition.feedback.prefs.plist" to the Trash. Then empty the Trash and try turning Speakable Items off and on again.

Thanks for all the replies. The problem is solved. It's been so long since OS9, where I would have to trash preferences often to make things work. First time for OS X. Sign of the times? Thanks to all who helped and replied to the topic. However, the apple site won't let me assign points to people (internal error), sorry if that's a big deal for people. However, know that I am extremely grateful. The speech is my control for my dorm automation system (lights, music). It's much easier to use this way. For an example, go to youtube and search for MIDAS Dorm. That's not mine, but it's where I got the inspiration from. He also has voice activation, but doesn't use it in the vid. More info on his project at:

Thanks Again,

Kivuli
