A little bit tilted?

I am sensitive to things not being level, like pictures hanging crooked, print on a page not being level, etc.

I really like my new nano, but I detect that the video is not entirely level within the frame. It seems to be tilted down a little on the left. (The black border seems thicker on the bottom right side than it does on the bottom left side). I find it distracting while watching videos.

Does anybody else have this issue with their nano 3g?

Thanks,

doug

I guess I really shouldn't have read your post. After checking, mine is tilted too! Now that little thing is going to drive me crazy. I bought mine in Tokyo too (at an Apple store) but I'm 2 and half hours away and I don't feel like making that trek. I'll try what you did.

I would press them on it. Tell them "hey, you did it for Doug Lerner."

Apple support seems to be very much "the squeaky wheel gets the oil". That annoys me no end because everybody should be able to get good service, not just alpha males. 🙂

Let us know what happens!

yeah mine is tilted too!
It is off by 1/3 of a centimetre.

purchased in Singapore from the online apple store.
extremely disappointed, as I should have bought it from a store but then again they do not retail red edition nanoes over here.

I am pretty worried that this problem is prevalent and that every single nano out there is affected so even if I change many sets, it will still be the same thing?
Will call applecare tomorrow and let everyone know how it went.

Well, that "alpha-male" comment had me laughing, because alpha-male I'm not. I called Apple and relented so I guess I'm waiting the two weeks. I could have made a stink (and I'm pretty good at doing that too) but I don't use my ipod that much and I felt bad for the guy helping me. If anyone else has this problem though I don't suggest going my route if they don't want to. Do what Doug did.

So I'll post again to let everyone know how it all went.

It's reassuring to know there are non-tilted ones out there! I look forward to getting one! 🙂

One easy way to detect the tilt is to look carefully at the black border at the bottom of the lit LCD portion. If it is an even thickness from left to right it isn't tilted. If it is a bit thinner on one side than the other it is tilted.

On mine, the black border is a bit narrow on the left, and get gradually thicker as you look to the right - because the LCD is tilted slightly counter-clockwise.

The screen on my new black 8 GB iPod nano (3rd generation) is crooked exactly as you have all described. This is most noticeable when you look at the bottom edge - on the bottom left, the distance from the LCD to the edge of the iPod case is less than it is on the right side. The LCD was not centered correctly during assembly.

I bought mine at Best Buy and will be returning it after calling Apple Support to complain about their poor quality control for this batch. The old iPod mini this is replacing appears to be finely constructed in comparison to my new nano.

doug my ipod nano will be in here in less than 7hrs.
If mine is tilted i will raise he*l in apple due to the fact last time they took more money out on accident out of my account and caused me overdraft fees
(i got a hundred bucks out of it though) plus one of my friends friend works in apple (but he doesnt deal with this kind of stuff he helps do ads and stuff)

A little bit tilted?
