Question

Can AW database field be linked to a spreadsheet cell?

I am trying to use a spreadsheet to calculate values and then have those values automatically link to an existing database. The database is in AW and I was using the a spreadsheet from AW.

Power Book G4, Mac OS X (10.4.3), iWork must have Database and Spreadsheet componet to be Appleworks replacement!

Hi Bernie,

My initial thought is 'probably not.' A fuller description of what you want to do might help someone come up with a solution (or a more definite 'can't be done'). Give us some specifics.

It used to be possible to do this sort of thing in AppleWorks using 'Publish and Subscribe', but this could not be supported with the move to OSX: I'm afraid I can see no way of doing what I assume you are trying to do, i.e. have the result in the spreadsheet automatically appear in the database. However you can do fairly complex calculations within a database field, so it might be possible to do it that way, depending on what it is you are trying to calculate.

Hello

That's true. Publish and Subscribe is not available in OSX (same thing in OS9 if I remember well).

We may exchange datas between some kind of documents but DB is not one of them.
I don't know exactly what you want to do. Maybe an AppleScript would be able to fit your needs.
