Macbook, skype and bluetooth headset

Hi there,
I just bought a Plantronics explorer 330 bluetooth headset to use with Skype, and unfortunately the microphone does not seem to work well. I am puzzled because the audio quality I get is very god, however whoever talks to me on VoIP hears me pretty bad. I also try the speech commands with the headset set as listening microphone, and no way... My MacBook does not recognize a word of what I say, though works beautifully with the internal microphone.
I do not think the headset itself is in fault, I just returned a motorola H350 for the same problem...
any ideas how to enhance microphone capabilities of the BT headset ???
I also have a mighty mouse on the bluetooth BTW. works well.
any help would be appreciated.
respectfully,
A.

thank you for your input guys, jdrodgers85 I had done that first, I think I have played all the possible ways on the most obvious settings. Eventually the problems that remain are a lack of quality in audio reception of the headsets (I have tried Motorolas H350 and now H500, and a plantronics model), and a lack in voice recognition from the computer when I try to use the headset as a microphone for speech commands.
Thx again

I have been having consistent problems with the microphone sound quality on a stream of bluetooth headsets, one plantronics, two motorola and now the new sony I just bought. Using skype, the person I call cannot make out what I am saying.

AFter many hours of research on the internet, including communication with Skype, who only answered that they no longer support bluetooth on macs, I can only say by a process of elimination it is a Mac OS problem, and one that for some reason has gone on for a long time, and Apple has not been able to solve.

I am back to using a headset to listen and the computers microphone, which is not very private. I can hear perfectly in most cases, but in an alarming number of calls, the other person can't make out what I am saying, being all jumbled, or cut off and with an intermittant echo.

I have gone through all the permutations, and in my reading have found that the other people who write of this problem, in desperation, have tested their sets with PC's and other phones and do not have the problem, only when they use Mac, and the description of the problem is the same as mine.

Evidently, not enough Mac users use skype with bluetooth to matter to Apple, who has no reference to this problem. There is a new thread going on over at the skype forums under mac on this very problem.

If anyone has a clue as to what is happening and why, please write it here, in detail so there is something authoritative people can turn to, and save hours of internet time leading to dead ends.

I had the same problem so I decided to have the bluetooth module changed before the warranty expired (fortunately the tech support guy was able to see the problem happening). That solved the problem for a few months, now it is back again. It has started very slowly, appearing and disappearing from time to time, but I'm sure this is going to get progressively worst (as if something has been slowly and steadily wearing out inside the BT module, ergo, hardware problem)
