DV PAL vs DV50 PAL

Hi Guys

Just trying to find out the difference between DV and DV50?
I have noticed DV50 better for titles etc but dont understand why.
Is there any reason for me to convert sequences without titles?
They will be on the same DVD, encoded same settings in compressor.

Just trying to save some serious render time.

Cheers!

One more question...

If I have a DV pal sequence, ready to export for compressor, instead of Export Quicktime -> Same settings etc.. can I change compression settings and export my DV sequence as DV50?

Which is better, the above method or changing the sequence setings and re rendering, then export??

Thanks again!

It's not exactly the same. 😉

PAL DV25 is actually 4:2:0 color space, not 4:1:1 like NTSC DV25.

PAL DV50 is 4:2:2 color space, just like DV50 NTSC.

Just to clarify, since folks reading NTSC-land might be confused, there is a real difference between the DV25 & DVCPro25 QT codecs for PAL. PAL DVCPro25 is 4:1:1 color space.
