Using my own music for ringtones...?

All I keep hearing is that apple is blocking any attempt to bypass its pay system for making ringtones... but how about MY OWN MUSIC?

Is apple's official solution to keep all of its content creators from using music THEY OWN from being accessible on its devices? What kind of support for artists is that supposed to be?

Please apple, let me know how I can use MY OWN DATA without your protection schemes.
