you paid 499 for it not 399.
i think everyone will get back 100 evne the 4gb users as he mentioned in his letter.

with iphone steve is going to really dominate the world. everyone cant own a computer, but at a price point they can get a iphone.economy of scale means these beautiful devices will cost 100 or less very soon, but selling games, ringtones, music, video, real time live stock trades on the iphone etc is where the recurring money is

at 399 after rebate steve is still laughing to the bank but then again he made a superior product that has opportunity to become better and better

First off, why were you an idiot? What's wrong with the 4GB model? I also have the 4GB model it works amazingly the same as the 8GB model, believe it or not.

Second, where did you pay $399 for it? They were $499 upon release and up until last week. Now they are $299.

Me thinks you're just another one of these employees for an Apple competitor sent here to stir up negative postings. Why doesn't your company use you to actually go think up a better product?

Oh ok, I didn't know that. I take back what I said about Apple's competitors. However, I do think there are plenty of them posting on this support forum.

But I still don't know why it makes someone an idiot because they bought the 4GB model. Am I missing something? Is something wrong with the 4GB model?

Apple discontinued the 4GB model. OK, but it's not like the called me and are making me give back my 4GB phone with no refund or compensation. It still works just fine.

They also discontinued the model of PowerBook I bought, but it still works just fine too.

There is nothing technically or physically wrong with the 4GB iPhone.

Apple discontinued it when they realized the price difference between the 4G and the 8G was not enough to cause people to buy the 4G in order to save $100.00.

Not many people wanted the 4GB and somehow figured out how to gather an additonal $100.00 to get the 8GB.

Had they had a $200.00 difference between the 2 units, people would have thought a lot harder about going up from 4GB to 8GB.

When I evaluated the price delta, I thought it was a pretty good deal to get twice the memory for just $100.00 more. It was an easy decision on my part. For others, $100.00 may have been a tough stretch financially.

I would love to buy computers with more memory where I could get double the memory for just $100.00 additional.

Simple marketing issue. Nothing to do with capabilities except how many more songs or videos can one store vs. the other.

Apple sold the 4GB phones as certified/refurbished units for $399 before the price drop. They were reduced to $299 after the drop - albeit you have to look for them under the 'clearance' tab nowadays, to get that price.

The 8GB iPhones go for $349 on the refurbished store, which is where smart people buy them from -- because the refurbs come with dock and charger, for $349. The brand new ones, at $399, no longer include dock and charger...

Well, I bought the 4gb version as well, and I'm not an idiot. I got everything I wanted in my phone. I would have bought the 8, but couldn't afford it. Even with the price drop I don't feel like an idiot. If you feel like an idiot, that's kind of sad really.
