Using a Logitech M-BJ58 mouse with my Intel iMac

Hi,

I bought a Logitech M-BJ58 Optical Mouse at a garage sale for $2.00 and the picture of it is seen on this website: http://www.topmicrousa.com/lo93opmops.html

So I tried it with my Intel iMac which I bought last December and there is a bit of a delay on there. Is there a way to reset this mouse of fix it to work better?

It works great on my sister's older Powerbook PC G4 and I don't notice the delay on her machine.

Also when I plug it into the iMac the system preference screen is different and I can't use the different buttons for different things like on the Mighty Mouse. Is this because the Mighty Mouse was configured to go with this machine?

I'm addicted to the scroll wheel and would like it to work a bit snappier on my machine. Just wondering if there is something I don't know.

S.

iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 17" & 1.67GHz PowerPC G4 512 MB DDR SDRAM, Mac OS X (10.4.9), itunes 7.1.1

Hi spiralgirl,

Logitech has a Control Center software for their mices.
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/428/953&cl=us,en?osid=9&file=1

But, this software seems to have some issues, as it works for some and works not for others.
It is also quite known for tending to make Macs become 'unstable'.

A better alternative (but costly) is SteerMouse http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/19058
