Dead bug behind the glass

of what to feed it?

I'd contact Apple for a fix,
it's got to be simple,
and
the silverfish, no charge... 🙂

Sorry not the first someone had a live bug not to long ago!

The glass can be removed on the new iMac's, BUT you break it you pay for a new one.

Or take it to your local Apple Service Provider or Apple Store and let them do it.

Brand new, right out of the box, my iMac 20" has a smushed gnat behind the glass. I wouldn't have noticed but discovered it while inspecting for the gradient problem.

Too literal of an example of a hardware bug. Were these new iMacs assembled in China? Another fine example of outsourced quality control.

Take it back and exchange it for one that is literally bug free. There is no excuse for this kind of problem.

Pathetic, just pathetic. When will Apple come to its senses and redesign the iMac and get rid of this horrible glass plate? It does make sense, though. At night, small bugs get through my window screens and go straight for my monitor. Fortunately, on my white iMac, they can't get inside. But on the aluminum one, since the glass isn't sealed, they will find a way to get through. Do not for a minute even consider letting Apple charge you for cleaning the screen.

I hear the next upgrade will include this:

If bugs are crawling into your iMac at night they are more likely entering through the vent slot in the back and moving around to the glass panel so they can keep an eye on you. Sounds like it's time for a thorough housecleaning.

In the other reported cases of bugs and dust on the inside of the glass, I think they came out of the box that way. Sounds like lax quality control at the assembly plant. There's no excuse for that. I wonder what's trapped inside the previous generation of iMacs that's hidden from view.

My dead bug turned out to be a defect in the glass that just looked like a bug. Good news is that the Portland Apple Store had the suction cups to remove the glass and had the eyes to tell that the glass was chipped on the inside. Bad news is, Apple Store can't replace the glass. I'm having to swap it out for another iMac.

(This new revelation has no effect on prior comments pertaining to Apple's OQC on these iMacs.)

I had a pretty big spider (larger than most spiders here in Sweden) in the box that the iMac was shipped in. I don't know if it came all the way from China or if it crawled in there somewhere along the way. I thought it was pretty funny though, I carefully captured it and released it outside. Hope it likes it here in Sweden 🙂

They really should keep the doors and windows closed at that Apple assembly plant in China!

Ah well, to be quite honest, i would be displeased about insects fused with my computer, but the price is so much lower because of the cheap labour China produces.

Nonetheless, I prefer that the products I buy be bug-free, both literally and otherwise. Bugs and dust inside the glass panels and boxes is nothing short of absurd. Apple should truly be ashamed for this kind of lax quality control.
