I have been looking at Application Monitor to work out why my Mac is running so slowly that it's impossible to use and I notice dozens of SMBD processes. What are these and could they be responsible for the infuriating slowdown?
smbd is *+is the server daemon that provides filesharing and printing services to Windows clients.+* It's part of the samba suite. See the manpage for
smbd—launch the Terminal app in /Applications/Utilities/, type in the following command, and hit the return key:
Yes I saw that too, but I don't know what it means. Hoping for a solution that doesn't require any under-the-hood work. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
