Some more.. Just a copy and paste from the other forum, don't take offesne, but I'm telling the same stuff, so...:)

Well, I figured I'd alert Apple. I'm on hold with tech support, with an estimated 15 minute wait. Probably stuck behind hundreds of people who can't gets the "do not disconnect" message to go away...
In the meantime, the iPod has gotten worse. I now can't even get it t oturn on, it'll show the apple logo a while, start to show the main menu, then crash again.
Wow...

Maybe aantono can, but I can't, only one computer.

However, at the suggestion of an iLounge user, because the problem dows seem to be art related, I've taken all the album art off the iPod (uncheck the display album art box) and the problem seems to be gone.

Something is happening with the iPod and it's use of artwork...
I'm in the process of wiping all art from the library and redownloading it through the "get album art" menu.

Prior to today, I had iTunes grab all the art that it could autoticlly, and filled in as much as I could of the rest using mostly Amazon
At the suggestion of an iLounge poster, I wiped off ALL the iTunes art from the iPod. The iPod quit freezing.

I then totally wiped out all the art from my library (GAH!!!!) and had iTunes automaticly redownload as much as it could.
Synced this to the iPod...
iPod started freezing exactly as before.

There's a glitch in some piece of software. Considering where the freezes happen, it has to be something with how the iPod is retrieving the stored art to display on the main menu...
If it matters, I'm a C2D Macbook running 10.4.10, with all updates to all software..
Not to brag or anything, but I'm a relatively 'advanced' mac user... I only say that because I've been on these forums and others long enough, I've seen some funny stuff done by users.. point is, it's the iPod, not me.

No problem.

I'm just as curious as you are, and looking forward quickly to a resolution.
Does Apple read these forums?
I called tech support, but they were rather useless.
In all honesty, I Was offere a replacement, but I declined, as I don't ffeel it's a hardware issue, so I'll wait it out until Apple says something.

As an early adopter, I actually EXPECTED bugs. I didn't expect the iPod to be useless, and in my case, it essentially is, unless I disable all art. Also, I'll be one of the first to say: Without art, the new interface is ugly.

I have not, do you have a link, I cna't find it?

Also, on a semi related note, from reading iLounge, it doesn't seem the lack of video out is a bug... The seem to be forcing you to use Apple chipped products (universal dock, new video cables, etc.)
Considering I have a dock (non universal) and video cables (both of which are APPLE products and do the EXACT same things as the ones they want me to buy for $50 EACH), I'm very annoyed that these do not work, purely by Apple's choice.

http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html though it hasn't been updated to include the classic.

Yeah i read about the authentication chips too, and I'm still hopeful that this is an overreaction and something that can be fixed via firmware. I have a keyspan AV dock that I only used a couple of times before my 5.5 80GB was stolen and I was looking forward to using it with the classic.

I'm even more annoyed that the camera connector doesn't work with the classics either! This doesn't seem to have any reason for not working since there even isn't a new version of the camera connector. I take a lot of photos and I rely on the connector to offload flash cards. Disgraceful that Apple removed support for it, and many other things without saying anything on the classic webpage. Games don't work either! shame shame..

Haha, you too?
iLounge reviewers/commenters more or less said good ridance to the Camera connectors death, but I use it too!
I use a Canon 20D, and only have 2 card to shoot it on. Sure, the CC was rather slow and it sucked down battery, but honestly, I liked it... In a pinch, it's a great way to avoid carrying a laptop to dump a card on, and it always worked reliable in the past for me.

yeah..i currently have an XT/350D but hoping to upgrade to a 40D at some point (once Aperture supports it), and the camera connector was a huge help when i was on trips away from my powerbook. It was slow and sucked the battery juice, but I synced in the evening in the hotel room while getting dinner or taking a shower and it was done when I got back, and I recharged overnight, so those issues weren't a problem for me. I'd rather have it with those issues than not be able to use it at all. I'd welcome an upgrade to a faster one (if they're working on it), but that doesn't mean that the old one should cease to function without a good reason.

My classic is crashing constantly, here's my video of it...
