Auto numbering paragraphs in Pages 08

Hello,

I have a quesion regarding paragraphs numbering. What I would like to do is a
paragraph and subparagraph numbering as available in other word processors.
For instance, by applying auto numbering, all my heaading1 paragraph titles
will be numbered 1, 2, ... n, all my heading2 paragraph titles will be numbered
1.1, 1.2, 1.3 ..... 1.n, 2.1, 2.2, .... 2.n and so on.
I would like an outline mode allowing me to move for instance paragraph 4 after
paragraph 6. Therefore, 5 becomes 4, 6 becomrd 5 and 4 becomes6. And of course
5.1, 5.2... 5.n would change accordingly and become 4.1, 4.2, .... 4.n amd so on.

Is this possible? I didn't find references in the documentation.

By the way, talking of references reminds me that cross references between text
and graphics would also be useful. Does it exist? Nothing in the documentation
either. This prevents me to use Pages for long and structured documents.

Any hint welcome.

It is there, but kind of convoluted. First, show the "List Styles" in the styles drawer. You have to do the following things:

1. create a paragraph style for your lists, make sure you select Bullet & Numbering style to be "Tiered Numbers" (this allows you to have 1., 1.1, 1.1.1...)
2. associate the paragraph style with a "list style" (this is what connects different paragraph styles that are not contiguous so they have appropriate numbering)
3. and for the most annoying part, to get the second, third, ... level, you have to go to the inspector and indent the level to the desired level.

Enjoy
