Refurbished Mac Book Pro Delievery times - URGENT PLEASE READ-

Hi

I am currently in Providence Rhode Island and I will be leaving for Turkey in 11-12 days. I am thinking of purchasing the 15.4 inches Mac Book Pro but I am doubtful if it will arrive on time as the site says that the refurbished products arrive in 7-10 days. I am not in a situation where I can go and anyone can send the computer after me so I really need some help about this. Should I purchase the computer or not? If you were in a similar situation or if you know about Apple s delievery times please respond. Thank you,

Tristan

User uploaded filePersonally I wouldn't have left it so late so would never be in this situation. However, given you're now in this situation I would probably bite the bullet and trot down to an Apple Store and buy a stock unit off the shelf. You'll get it today and it gives you time to ensure all is right before leaving. So, if for whatever reason you need to return it you have the time and ability to do so. Yes it'll cost you more but if the MBP is that important to you then it's worth that extra money.

Unfortunately, there is simply no way for anyone here to let you know when you would receive your refurb MacBook Pro. Apple's delivery times for products other than those stating "Usually ships within 24 hours" are usually estimates. They quite often will ship sooner... but they also can ship later. Refurb inventory can fluctuate as well making a precise ship/delivery date more difficult. As Ned mentioned, you may want to go to your local Apple store and pick up a new one. Granted, there is quite a price difference... but if you "need" to have it when you go away, it's really the only way to be sure.

Even the non-refurbished models have ship times of 7 to 10 days, and that's business days. I ordered mine August 30th, and immediately upon submitting my order the e-mail I received said ships September 11th through 14th, arrives September 13th through 20th. If you need a Mac in a hurry find out if there is one in stock at one of the local authorized resellers or Apple's retail store:

There are other options besides Apple. I have purchased from Powermax.com. They also have refurbs/openbox returns, and can give you fast shipping. If you call they sill be able to tell you exactly what is in stock and when/how to ship. They have a few right now...check under "Special Value Macs". Apple Authorized Reseller and offer Apple Care too.

Adrian,

I ordered a MacBook Pro 17" with HD screen and upgraded 160GB 7200RPM HDD on August 30 here in Australia and I was told today (September 20) that I should receive it either tomorrow or Saturday. I can assure you that I'm not bragging about the new MBP that I'll be getting, but from reading around the internet and speaking to the guys in the shop, the inclusion of different components can have an effect on the shipping time. If I do get it either tomorrow or Saturday, that will have been just over a 3 week wait.

Hi,

Here's my experience. I was looking at a particular refurbished model MBP on-line at the Apple Store. After debating the issue for a couple of hours I went back to the site and the MBP I had picked out was no longer available, I settled for something a tad bit less. Based on this I concluded that if it was listed on the site, that particular MBP was immediately available. I ordered the MBP totally as advertised, no added RAM, etc.

Regarding shipping, this was back in November '06 so I don't know if meeets the current situation or if I just had good luck. I ordered my MBP late PST on Sunday the 19th. Recieved a shippping notice on the Monday the 20th to expect delivery by Fedex on the following Monday the 27th. It arrived on Saturday the 25th.

Buuut, you pays your dues and takes your chances. The sure fire advice from the other responses cannot be ignored.

Good luck,
Don Rieg
