1. You can use any USB keyboard or mouse with that iMac, but special functions, such as the volume keys, may require software to be installed on the computer, and may not work.
I am in the process of getting an installation disc right now, but it is telling me that in order to reset everything I have to press "commandoption+PR" on the keyboard, which aren't on my regular PC keyboard. That's why I'm wondering if I need to get a mac keyboard and mouse.
The Command Key is mapped to the Windows key. The Option key is mapped to the Alt key. Those are the "modifier" keys, and they can be mapped differently in the System Preferences Keyboard & Mouse pane.
