Problems with Mighty Mouse Side Buttons

Ok, this has been driving me nuts lately, so if anyone could help that would be great!

The side buttons of my mighty mouse will randomly start uncontrollably clicking so that it will show all windows at the same time (expose view or whatever) on and off non-stop. Is there anything that I can do to stop this other than disabling the expose view option, because it's kind of handy.

Also, my mouse will randomly skip across the page so that the pointer is in a completely different spot than it was a second before without me even moving it.

If anyone has any suggestions it would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I'm having a similar problem. I don't have the side buttons assigned to anything, but just resting my hand on the mouse results in lots of light clicking sounds, the same as the clicks you hear when you squeeze the side buttons, and they're driving me crazy. I confirmed that the system thinks I'm pressing the side buttons by assigning an action to them, and I got the behavior Astronautical reported.

Interestingly, I've only had this problem with wired Mighty Mice (I'm on my second one -- I had to replace my old one after cracking it open to try to troubleshoot this); I have a wireless mouse at work and I never have the problem.

I tried cleaning the mouse but it didn't help.

I just found this older thread that seems to be about the same problem:

http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4229026&#4229026

They suggested that it's related to static, which explains why it's gotten worse lately as we've been approaching winter. I just started up my room humidifier, maybe that will cure it. But for the moment I've disconnected my mighty mouse and hooked up a generic scroll mouse.
