Addiing music to iweb photos

Yes. Just drag a track from the media pane onto the page wherever you'd like to have the controller be positioned. The area just above the controller will now be displayed unless you drag a photo into it. this site has two music tracks added to it. I added the photos to them but you don't need to if you don't want.

To have music start with a slideshow there's some post publishing editing needed of some of the .js files I believe. It's different than the file below I'm referring to. That's beyond my knowledge. Do a search for slideshow music and see what you find.

If you're trying to drag a audio track into a photo page it has to be outside the photo section. It can be up near the title with the control bar underneath and the top part of the object over the title area. Then select the title and send it to the front. If you want music to play automatically when that page is open see this example. The file you want to edit will be title "site name.js' and will be located in the "site name_files" folder I suggest you follow the suggestion for the volume so as not to blow someone out who might have their volume turned up high.

You can drag a music file onto the page in iWeb '08, select it, and check the autoplay box in the QuickTime inspector to get it to play as soon as the page loads
The easiest way to have music with a slideshow is to create the slideshow and add the music in iPhoto.
Then drag it onto your web page from the "media" window in iWeb.

Thanks, Roddy. I never noticed that new QT pane in the Inspector window. Now if they would only let you set the initial volume. I've had some really blast me out when I went to the site. Best to start out soft and let the viewer bring it up is they desire.

I know what you mean! I'd rather give people the option of playing the music or not.
Unfortunately, on commercial websites where you are trying to sell music, that extra click is just too much effort for some people and they move on.
Worse still, I've had emails from people who couldn't figure out how to play the music and I had to put an arrow pointing to the start button!

Since you don't have to post edit to have autoplay if you want to, as a courtesy to the viewers, reduce the volume on those pages you can see how it's done here.

Hi. I created a slideshow with music in iPhoto and then opened the iWeb media browser and went to the "photo" tab as suggested, BUT, the slideshow doesn't appear. And I can't drag the slideshow from iPhoto into iWeb and have it work like I want. Any suggestions on how to get a slideshow in iWeb to play with music? It seems like a simple request, but I can't figure it out. Thanks.

iphoto slideshows will not work in iWeb. You have to put the album into iWeb and then add the music.
