Print & Fax "successful-ok-conflicting-attributes" error during set-up

Greetings, I recently purchased an open box Canon MP600 from Office Depot without an install CD. All software/drivers were downloaded from Canon's website on the 13th of September 2007. The following explains my course of action and error message:

System Preferences > Print & Fax > Printing (Selected) > Click "+" > Printer Browser (Displays): Printer Name: MP600, Connection: USB; Print Using (Drop Down Menu): Canon IJ Printer > Click "Add" = An error occurred while trying to add the selected printer. successful-ok-conflicting-attributes

I deleted all other printers from my Print & Fax list and also tried to specify Canon in the Printer Browser's Print Using (Drop Down Menu, instead of "Canon IJ Printer"); unfortunately, no MP600 shows up in the list that falls under the Canon option. Has anyone come across this error with any resolution?

I don't have a solution, but I thought I'd mention I'm seeing basically the same problem. My printers (one at work, and a Canon IJ printer at home, were both working fine. Then for some completely inexplicable reason I stopped being able to print anything, getting a variety of (very vague) errors depending on what app I tried to print from. So I thought perhaps removing and then adding back the printers might be a good idea...and having removed it, when I try to re-add, I'm getting the same "successul-ok-conflicting-attributes" error described in Stretch's post. Any help appreciated!

I had the same problem and fixed it by repairing disk permissions. I have no clue what causes the problem or exactly what you are fixing, but it worked for me.

Try going to applications
Utilities
Disk Utilities
Select "repair disk permissions"
It will go through all the repairs. After I did this, I was able to install the printer error free.

Thanks Process613...in fact I've just managed to resolve it myself too. I used Printer Setup Repair, but it was the permissions repair part of this that seemed to do the trick, so I wonder if that disk utilities repair you listed might have worked too.
