Q: What does this do?

Is this the thing whereby you record a tone played by your computer in any room/location and from the resonant properties of the recorded tone you can recreate that exact room's acoustic/reverb properties? I only ask because one of my university lecturers was doing a thesis on it a few years back; he'd been to India and recorded the acoustic properties of the Taj Mahal; he let me use it for one of my recordings. Me - playing a rock guitar solo - in the Taj Mahal So am I at all along the right track here? If so, will we begin to see websites where you can download different reverb settings, from Ground Zero, NY to The Sydney Opera House?! Coz that'd be cool!
