Meaning of Console Log Entry? (and how to make it stop?)

The following occurs regularly in my console.log, and I'm wondering if anyone can point me to what might be causeing it:

Exception caught in COTTCPListener::HandleAccept(), calling OTSndDisconnect

It seems like something is trying to call an Open Transport routine to shut something down, but I don't have a clue what it would be.

This is on a 17" Intel iMac under 10.4.10

17" Intel iMac, iBook G4, eMac, PB 1400, Power Curve 120, etc., Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Using MS products? If so, do a google search for Tcplistener.

Not using MS (except under Parallels, but this happens even when Parallels isn't running)...though it is possible that something carried over to this machine from the eMac when I upgraded, I guess...

Would there be anything that should be obvious in Activity Viewer (but isn't obvious to me)?

Then, you're running MS stuff. I can't help with the *didn't make much sense* response. I don't do windoze, so I can't help. However, most of the hits I got were MS-stuff related and I suggest posting to MS's forums for deciphering the nonsensical.

Well, no. Windows (i.e., MS stuff) is only running when Parallels is running, so there should be nothing like this going on when Parallels is not running.

Look at it this way: the only MS stuff that runs on this machine is +under Windows,+ not under OS X; when you install Windows under Parallels, it is not installing things anywhere else, and it is not installing things that will run on the Mac except under emulation. Thus, unless there is something that carried over from the old machine as a 'legacy item', there is no MS stuff normally running on this machine--nothing that should be doing what is going on.

Since these calls (OTSndDisconnect(), etc.) are clearly OS X OpenTransport calls, it's unlikely that this is related to Windows in any way.

What processes do you have running in the background? You can use Activity Monitor (in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder) to look for all processes running on your Mac.

As for what application or process might be calling this function, since OpenTransport has been discouraged for some time, my guess is that the process that's calling this is a third-party application. It may also be one that ran in OS 9 and prior.

Hope this helps....
