I have the same exact problem. The screen lights up, but no characters whatsoever appear. Apart from that, the unit does function as usual, playing songs as normal. It's just navigating around is extremely difficult when you can't see anything. I've toggled the hold switch, restarted and put it into disk mode, restored the software. Still nothing but a lit up screen and no menus, any characters or icons.

HELP!!!!!

The only solution I can give you is to do a restore. When it says that its going to wipe out your music and do you wnat to continue. yes.
Let the system do a complete restore of the software( It will extract the software from the i pod /I tunes. Then reinstall it
Now it will take awhile to completely re write your Ipod, but you WILL have your screen back.
Then simply reload your I pod with your music.
So far I have had to do this 3 times. So I guess you'll need to get used to it. But you'll have your I pod back

I've done EVERYTHING at least 5 times over and the white screen is still there.

I've even been told that something is loose inside and I really have no idea of how to open it without hurting anything.

The sad thing about it, is I got this as a christmas present. Right out of the box, worked for 3 minutes and then the white screen of death. No reciept either so I can't take it back.

In other words, Bumping for a fix if possible.
