Touch PDA

I really wanted to use the Touch as a PDA, so I was disappointed to see that the calender function is read only. A little bit of a crazy question, but does anyone know if the iphone wifi can be used at hotspots like the ipodtouch if I did not get a phone contract? Or does it only work through a cell phone system? Thanks for your help.

Send Apple feedback asking for that feature back on the iPod touch. Hopefully, if they get a lot of requests, they'll reconsider their decision.

I keep hearing the "it's not a PDA" line, and if that's true, then why the 2-way address book sync? Why the web browser? I don't think adding calendar syncing to the touch is going to impact iPhone sales. There are still many other features that are only on the iPhone. I just can't understand offering the one thing (address book sync) without the other (calendar sync).

The only reason I'm not buying an iPod touch is because of that missing feature. And, I'm not able to buy an iPhone because I can't change carriers, so that's that.

I thought the same here, but after some research into the product found it was missing many features my Palm T|X had so I will be waiting for software updates.

1. No Notes & sync method
2. No calendar editing
3. No KeyChain app, that also goes for the iPhone
4. No published method for 3rd part apps
5. No tasks & any sync method

It is nearly a PDA not not quite, again the iPod empire builders in Apple seem to have more power every day.

I WANT LEOPARD!!! I HAVE AN IPOD (3rd gen) and it is a good product. I want Apple to create new stuff that makes my life easier, not new stuff with no real purpose other than eye candy like the iPod touch.

Just sent a feedback request for an enhancement for the calendar, and asked if they plan on selling additional software. Hopefully I hear back from them some day....

But agreed, if you can buy games, why not sell some small applications? I don't need a full PDA like a Palm, really I just wanted movies, music, web, and a calendar. Thats all.

There are many threads going around about how the calender isn't editable. If you have a cell phone why not just put ur calender stuff in there? Yes it is a crappy feature but its not called Itouch. Its called ipod touch. yes it has touch screen like a pda but its mostly for movies and music. I am on both sides of this though. I find it extremely stupid to have a touch pad keyboard and not have notes AND an editable calender. But you can do calenders on google and such. you can do mail on mail.yahoo.com (which is unlimited space now). Everything everyone is complaining about you can do online. Even games. some of the threads going around on the iphone and ipod touch forums give websites to games. i saw one with duck hunt online O.O, its all about browsing around. you can find what you are looking for anywhere online. then again...when you're in your car, with no wifi...you kinda outta luck 😟
