I use Bose headphones with my ipod 80 gig but when iI tried to use them in my iphone they did not work correctly as others have noticed. The reason is that the plug will not go down deep enough to make good contact as the hole surronding the earphone jack is too small. I shaved some of the rubber from my bose plug and it works fine. So much for the 'regular earphone jack' as claimed. It's the same size but is blocked by the small hole in the case. ipod in a iphone and you can't use it except with the supplies pods which won't even stay in your ear let alone utilize the Fantastic Sound? you get. Way to go Stevie boy.

the headphone jack design is poor. if the plug from your headphones does not go all the way into the jack it sounds strange because the iphone has an extra connection inside the 1/8 stereo jack for the microphone. If not fully inserted the internal iphone jack connections will bridge the "sleeves" on the plug resulting in poor or no audio. You can get a:

that solves the problem but looks ridiculous sticking out the top of your phone.
