The 1.0.2 firmware upgrade has NOT solved the alarm problem for the Philips AJ300D dock either.

Same here. I've got the iHome H5 and just got the new 80GB iPod classic. The alarm works fine with my older 4th gen iPod and my wife's nano, but not so with the 6th gen classic. Irritating to say the least. Hopefully Apple fixes this in the next update.

My 160gb Classic worked fine with my iHome2go until I updated my firmware to 1.0.2 last week. Now I'm having the same problem others have described: the alarm goes off, my iPod turns on but doesn't play music, and a few seconds later, the iHome's beep alarm kicks in. I want to revert back to 1.0.1 to see if this fixes the problem.

It sure would be nice if a firmware upgrade actually fixed more problems than it causes!

I have a new Nano and am having the same problem with my iHome. I have an older mini that works perfectly with my iHome (but the battery is shot, so needed a new iPod). I have ruled out my iHome being the problem, it's my Nano. I have changed out my Nano three times w/ Best Buy and it is obvious that there is an internal problem withe the Nano software. My alarm on my iHome won't go off, my Nano turns on and then immediately goes to pause and turns off. Also, when playing music on my iHome w/ my Nano, the Nano intermittently turns off. This is the third Nano I have exchanged that has had this problem.

APPLE!!!! FIX YOUR SOFTWARE UPDATES TO INCLUDE iHOME COMPATIBILITY!!!!! Right now I am feeling like a sucker for wasting my money.

before i had the classic i had a 1st generation 1gb ipod nano and that worked fine with the alarm. Now i have a 80gb classic and the only way i can get the alarm to work with it is to leave the songs on replay all night. what the ** is with that!

See if this work around works for you. Set the alarm on the ipod itself not the dock (with a playlist as sound not beep). It works for the Philips alarm clock dock. I really wish apple would fix this problem ASAP but in the meantime the alarm clock dock isn't a total waste of $$$$

I just purchased an iPod Classic this week and I have the trouble you describe with my iHome5 - it defaults to the buzzer when I set the alarm. The information from the iHome people is too vague to be useful. From reading all of your posts, it seems that updating the firmware to 1.02 is what is recommended. I was wondering: would I already have that firmware on my iPod, since I just bought it? Is there a way I can check? If not, how would I update the firmware? When I plug the iPod into my computer, iTunes says the software is up to date.

    Thank you for your help.

I have a iPod 80gb Video and 3 iHome accessories. I have not purchased an iPod Classic because of the compatibility issues.

The compatibility issue with the iPod Classic as many have stated is a firmware issue.

I was on the phone with iHome tech support today and they stated that Apple has told them, there will be a firmware release in December 2007 to repair the problems that the iPod Classic is having with many docks and dock stereos. i.e. the iH46B and iH8b which I personally own.

Then I will consider buying an iPod Classic

Sorry to bring up and old thread, but can any Classic owners check who have an alarm clock such as the iHome check whether the new firmware 1.03 has resolved this issue? And if so post which clock now works as I want to purchase one for Christmas but want to make sure that it works.

    Thank you

I can confirm the 1.0.3 update DOES fix the "wake to ipod" alarm problem with the Philips AJ300D alarm clock dock. Hopefully the same is said for others.

Thank you for that. Does anyone have an Xtrememac Luna and can you confirm whether the new firmware works with it?
  • TBear Level 1 Level 1 (10 points)
Yes it does now work with the Luna
  • Rumpelgeist Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)
Yes, I have a Luna, and I can confirm that the alarm FINALLY works.

Thanks Apple. Thanks for the fix. Thanks for taking MONTHS to deliver the fix. You should not have made us wait so long for, what I would think is such a little thing to fix.

Care for your customers, or one day you may find that you have none left.
