sony hvr-dr60 & m2t files?

This past week I did a shoot with a Sony V1U that had a sony hvr-dr60 HDD recorder to capture the footage. Is it possible to import or somehow use the m2t files that the hdd created in FCP? The drive has a user and video folder and inside the video folder are hdvf df folders. Inside the hdvf folder is the m2t files, .idx files, and .ts files. Can I edit with any of this? Please help!

Thanks,
John Schenkel

I haven't had to convert m2t files so I can't comment on that. You can capture native HDV over firewire from tape and I'm sure this will produce good results.
I however don't work to much with native HDV and would recommend converting to either DVC Pro HD or ProRez and work with an all i-frame codec for editing.
I have found an all digital real time conversion is the best workflow for me.

We shoot with the Sony Z1U and Firestore, I also have a Sony HVR-DR60 inhouse for testing. Capture off the tape as HDV. The quality from all of these will be exactly the same, unless you change the codec, i.e., recompress using a different codec. But, I would keep in HDV, if you want video.

Right now, even with the latest FCP6.0.2 release, from what I can tell you will have to convert M2T files using MpegStreamclip or other encoder/converter, which will affect your quality and other possible problems.

Capturing from the Z1U from tape has been flawless. Using Firestore has not been, and using the DR60 means other processes you shouldn't have to deal with at this time.

I will be testing with and learning more about the Sony DR60 today and if I think if it, I will come back and share my results!
