Audio Transfer problems with firewire

Can anyone help me - or point me in the right direction????

I recently installed iMovie 08. I am an avid user of the pervious version. At first things imported off my Sony Handycam fine via firewire.

Now all I am getting is video - no audio is importing.

If I switch back to the old version of iMovie - eveything imports fine, audio as well as video.

Is there a setting somewhere in the new version that mutes or cancels the audio import?? If so, can someone please let me know how to correct this?

Thanks

Eddy

Audio is said to be muted during the import process, but that should not affect the files once imported. Does other audio play correctly? Is there any possibility that some other software may have changed your audio settings and simply did not reset them (e.g., like the application crashing in the middle of your using it)? That is, can you isolate the problem as bein in playback or transfer/converson of the file from the camcorder?
