Error 22, error 8... I give up...

I think I tried everything. Quicktime setting: T1, LAN, changed video settings in IChat, disabling firewals, changed ports in Ichat to 443, we both have broadband, but still I get either error 22 or 8.
! one of the modems is a philips DSL wireless (NAT enabled). Skype works, and once I managed to chat using Ichat (but only once)

Could someone please look at the log and tell me what I still have to do...

Hi

So you've done 1.5Mbps T1/Intranet/LAN for Quicktime streaming speed & Bandwidth limit: None in iChat>Preferences>Video.

Judging by this:

a=RTCP:AUDIO 35011 VIDEO 35007

IChat has moved outside the normal iChat ports. This suggests a NAT problem, probably 2 devices both distributing IP addresses e.g. Airport & Modem/Router. What is your exact layout as regards connecting to the internet?

Hi!

On my side, I have my imac connecting wirelessly with an airport, connected to a cable modem.
Connecting using DHCP, ip adress 10.0.1.2, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, router 10.0.1.1., no DNS Servers, no PPPoE, no proxy's.

On the other side, there is an imac connecting wirelessly with a philips wireless router, ADSL modem.
Mac filtering is enabled, NAT is also enabled. I disabled it, but I could not connect to the internet anymore, so I enabled it again.
I entered the ports that should be opened for Ichat in the router's configuration, but to no avail.
I now use port 443 in both Ichat configurations, thought that would solve the problem, but it did not.
The mac firewall is enabled on both Imacs (but I tried connecting without it, again to no avail)
I would gladly disable NAT if this would solve the problem, but for now I do not even know on which side the problem occurs!

Ps I stopped and restarted Ichat a zillion times already after changing the settings...

My mother has a Philips wireless router as well, it took a long time before I found out it needs to be unplugged for 20 min or so before a hard reset has the desired effect. The reset did it and everything was up and running after that. (you need to re-enter the ISP details, check if you have them before a hard reset)

I googled a bit and found out that belgacom, the Belgian ADSL provider, 'tweaks' its routers because they also provide TV through this router, but this means it does not work for Ichat, causing the errors. It seems that upgrading the firmware might help.
I also found a site about port forwarding for this modem, so I will set this up this weekend when I am on the other mac. ( http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Philips/SNB6500/iChat.htm )
If after this weekend it still does not work, I have to complain with my provider.

Unfortunately, it still does not work. This week-end, I set up port forwarding on the other router. That did not solve the problem.
Today, I disabled the option of my airport to distribute ip adresses, so it now acts as a bridge to my router.

Quicktime settings and Ichat settings are as suggested, I opened the ports in the firewall for Ichat. The problem is I do not know on which side the problem occurs.
I still get error 22...

I will include the latest log, since I've changed some settings. Skype still works smoothly, though, so why not Ichat!

Hi,

If the System Preferences > Quicktime has been changed then iChat needs restarting or is does not see the new speed.

Unless you are on a Internet connection that exceeds about 20MBps the setting in iChat > Preferences > Video > Bandwidth Limit drop down need to stay at NONE or that caps iChat as well.

Now the No resource message could be linked to any Denial of Service (DoS) Attack protection you modem may be doing.

There are various features you could have that do similar jobs that can interfere with the data for iChat.

Denial of Service (DoS) judges whether you are getting Too Much data Too Quickly and cuts that particular connection without dropping the internet as a whole.
It is designed to stop too many request to a web server to bring it down.

Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) is similar and will also cut the connection.

Another that sometime gets in the way in QoS (Quality of Service). It is supposed to help VoIP/SIP connection. (I said Supposed)

On most devices it is an On/Off setting but some do let you tweak the data cut off rate.

I have error -8 after a lengthy period of successful connections. This has occurred twice in 3 months.

Couldn't find any solutions thru Google, or thru this Forum.

But each time this problem occurred, I either re-install the OSX system update (this case applying the 10.4.10 combo (intel)) or apply the latest system update on my Intel Mini (if I have not already done so), and all iChat problems disappear!

BTW, I'm on my home network with 2 Macs (MBP and Mini), and the network stays unchanged.

Try re-applying the system update and see if it solves your problems!
