iPod Intermitantly Freezes on White Screen of Death

Hi All,

I am just wondering if people had any ideas about what is going on with my iPod and if Apple will cover it. I bought it 9 months ago and is in incredible condition (no scratches, never dropped).

Two weeks ago I turned it on, and the screen went white with backlight on full blast. I had to hold down Menu and Select to get it to reboot. It then went back to the white screen (didn't show Black with Apple logo) and froze. It took nearly 10 restarts for it to work again. This has been happening every 1 to 2 days even though I have restored my firmware to the latest version (1.2.1). Then yesterday it did this and did not come back despite rebooting it probably 50-75 times. It then turned on this afternoon.

I have tried diagnostic boot and disk mode reboots when it is playing up and they don't work either.

Do you think Apple will replace it? How long does it take?

Cheers,
James

iPods have a one year limited warranty, yours falls into this category

Apple's quote: If a hardware defect arises and a valid claim is received by
Apple within the Warranty Period, at its option and to the extent permitted by law, Apple will either (1) repair the product at no charge, using new or
refurbished replacement parts, (2) exchange the product with a product that is new or which has been manufactured from new or serviceable used
parts and is at least functionally equivalent to the original product, or (3) refund the purchase price of the product.

Have you also tried re-setting to factory faults through iTunes?
I don't know how long it takes if your iPod goes to Apple.
