Peripheral car audio and click wheel issues w/ Classic

Anyone else out there have a Peripheral Car Audio Interface for their car stereo? I got mine in Dec of '05 and had no problems with it. I get a new Ipod Classic and when I plug it up to the stereo the click wheel becomes nearly useless. It still plays but it's a bear getting to a song. When I unplug it from the stereo the Click wheel works fine. Help!

I spoke with a Peripheral tech support rep this morning. He said the issue is a hardware one and they are working to resolve that with a new cable. Said to call back in about two weeks. Don't know if they will replace yours. I use an iOn connector with similar problems. I thought the Peripheral one might work because a website, The GadgetLocker.com, is selling a Peripheral cable that they claim works with the Classic. The Peripheral rep said it will not. This is really frustrating. I have used the iOn cable for over two years with an iPod Photo with great results. Hopefully either Apple or the third party cable makers can get this issue resolved soon. The Peripheral rep can be reached at 1-800-477-2267 ext. 208.

I have a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP car stereo and when I bought my 80GB iPod this July from Costco everything worked fine. As Costco has a 90 day no questions asked policy I returned it last week and grabbed the 160GB classic as there was no cost difference. My 160GB Classic works fine, except I've found that on my car stereo scroll with the iPod Classic it will show the first song I play, but when the next song comes on the scroll won't display the next song. The song plays fine, but the scroll does not work properly anymore. From reading these posts it sounds like a new cable from the car stereo to the iPod classic is needed. I'll have to check w/the car stereo installer.

I'm actually using the BlitzSafe VW/M-LINK1 V.5 in my 03 Jetta. I'm a simple Ipod solution for my car keeping control on the Ipod itself and not my head unit (I'd rather it that way). I'm having the same issue with my 80gb classic. When I plug the Ipod into the interface, the touch wheel itself becomes useless, although I can still control the Ipod with the Menu, forward, back, etc. buttons. As soon as I unplug the Ipod from the interface, my click wheel goes back to normal.

One thing I also noticed is that when the Ipod is plugged in, I can see the wheel actually being used although I'm not touching it. By this I mean you can actually see the volume going up and down or the highlight bar actually moving up and down. You can also hear the Ipod clicking away.

I've talked to Blitzsafe and they told me my Ipod is faulty and to get it looked at. I've tried both a 5th Gen Video and Nano and they both worked perfectly. After reading this thread I'm sure my Ipod isn't the problem although I'd like to try another Classic just to make sure.

I am having the same problem. I have a car with the steering wheel controls that control the playlist and volume. I had a mini and it worked and when i used the ipod i could change the playlist. With the new iPOD Classic the screen says "connected to accessory" and it plays the music off of the ipod and will not let me change which playlist i want to play. If anyone figures out how to fix it, let me know.

Thanks

I too have a Pioneer DEH-P6800MP car stereo with the iPod adapter CD-IB100 that has been working and still works fine with my 5th Gen 60Gb iPod. I recently bought the 160Gb iPod Classic for the extra storage space and I'm seeing the same display problem that others have posted. Hopefully this is just a firmware issue and Apple can fix this soon. I have submitted a bug to Apple about this. Others should do this as well so that Apple can look into it.
