Several Problems With Printing

Hey,
Thanks for your time.
I just got a new MacBook 13" which i am enjoying.
however. i have a Canon Pixma MP450 which for some reason does not seem to connect.
When i plug the USB in the computer locates it however does not set it up. And when it occasionally does work the printer will print a blank screen.. Lastly when in the printer utility setting it up i can not locate the printer because i do not know what GIMP means and cannot find under the Canon heading MP450?
please help!!!

How is that possible? You will need it in future.

But as has been explained to you, the printer driver you need was not pre-installed with your Mac and is therefore not on your install disk!

It was therefore suggested that you download and install the Gutenprint driver.

When i said i lost the disk for installation i never ment the disk for my Mac, but rather the disk that came with the printer used for macintosh, becuase previously i owned a PC and would never of expected myself to be owning a mac, therefore i did not find it necessary to keep the CD. (obviously i should of)
Anyway, if download the GIMP will work then i am prepaired to do it? but how?
how do i download it and where from?
