Deleting Yahoo mail?

Is there a way to delete emails on Yahoo on my iPhone without deleting them in my Yahoo account itself? My concern is that unless I delete emails on my iPhone, the memory will quickly fill up -- but I don't want to delete them from my Yahoo email as a whole (i.e., I want them still to be there when I use Yahoo mail on my computer via the Web interface). Or am I basing this question on a misconception as to whether the emails actually are downloaded onto my iPhone in the first place when I access them using the Mail program on the phone -- could it be that I am viewing them online (as with a browser) but not actually downloading them? In that case, there would be no need to delete them for reasons of iPhone memory-space conservation.

I already have it set to "never" -- but the messages are still deleted from the Yahoo server when I delete them on the iPhone.

Also, the option on my iPhone doesn't say "delete from server" -- there is just a menu for "deleted messages," and one can set it to "remove" and "never." I think that this feature may be about whether messages that are deleted so that they then go in the trash are later deleted permanently. It doesn't seem to be an option governing what happens to the messages on the server.

By the way, I am using the Y! mail auto set-up feature on the iPhone -- not getting my Yahoo messages via POP.
