Can Receive Email but Cannot Send Email

Hi - I can receive email but cannot send. It always prompts "check outgoing mail settings"

If this helps it is configured like this:

Incoming Mail Server - pop.1and1.com
Outgoing Mail Server - smtp.1and1.com

I called my host company, they said to change my outgoing port # on the iphone from 25 to 587.

I have looked for an outgoing port, but cannot find.

Thanks in advance!

if you set up your incoming mail like you regularly wood, when you get to outgoing follow these instructions.Configure iPhone Mail for EDGE

If your ISP does not allow you to connect to their outgoing mail server to send email from outside their network, you can use the following AT&T outgoing mail server instead.

* cwmx.com. No user name or password required

AT&T's outgoing mail server will only allow you to send mail while using an EDGE connection and will not work on a Wi-Fi connection. If you are connected to Wi-Fi and would like to send mail using AT&T's server, turn off Wi-Fi by choosing Settings > Wi-Fi. Information about using AT&T's mail server to send mail using EDGE can be located in AT&T's support document 72769.

There's a better and more permanent solution than using AT&T for outgoing smtp.

First off, to change the port to 587, use smtp.1and1.com:587

if THAT doesn't work,
set up a free gmail account
set up the gmail account to send mail AS your 1and1 account
set up iphone to receive e-mail from pop.1and1.com
set up iphone to send e-mail to smtp.gmail.com

then you'll get your mail, and all outgoing mail works on wi-fi and edge, and will have your 1and1 address in the "from" line that your recipients will see.

This is how I set up my mail earlier this week and it works flawlessly on edge and wi-fi
