Canon MP800R Wireless MFP - How to install?

Dear Forum,
I have a Canon PiXMA MP800R wireless multi-function printer, working fine on my Windows machines but I can't seems to get any joy installing it on OS X. I don't have the Mac driver CD that come with the printer as I didn't have a Mac at the time, so I downloaded all the software from Canon.co.uk, ran each setup one-by-one but nothing. The printer OS X setup cannot seem to find my printer. I am trying to set it up totally wireless (as expected), I tried setup via USB and that seems okay, but doesn't provide me with any additional steps to set it up wirelessly... can anyone help??

Macbook Pro 15-inch, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 160GB 7200RPM HDD.

Hello Shaun,

Greg is correct with the More Printers selection. After you click More Printers, click on the top menu and select Canon IJ Network. If you are already using the printer wirelessly with the PC then this menu window should display the MP800R, probably with its Ethernet address in brackets immediately after the model name.

If the MP800R doesn't appear in the list, then I would connect it back via USB and then navigate to /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter/Utilities and open the Canon IJ Network Tool. This will let you check the configuration of the wireless settings so that you can ensure the Mac is on the same network.

I have a similar problem with my Canon iP4000R.
Both my Win XP PC and my iMac are in the same WLAN via an Airport Extreme Base station.
Windows can see, monitor and print to it.
iMac can only see it when connecting through USB.
BJ Network Tool takes less than 2 secs to conclude it cannot detect any printers on the network.

BTW: as you may already have noticed: I am a Mac OS NooB...

You should have the Canon IJ Network Tool. The BJ tool was for older models of Canon printers. If you don't have the Canon IJ Network Tool in /Library/Printers/Canon/BJPrinter/Utilities, then the driver installation may not have completed successfully. Delete the contents of the BJPrinter folder, empty the trash and then run the Canon iP4200R installation again.
