Quicktime Pro - "Invalid Registration"

I bought QT Pro over a year ago (v7) online from the Apple Store (July 2006). After paying ($32.31 = $29.95 + tax) I received a confirmation email from the store thanking me for my purchase but the email did not contain a serial number or key for Quicktime, I figured I'd get another email that contained the key. I waited a couple of weeks, nothing. Went to the store and logged in to retrieve my key, all it shows is the "part number" (D3381Z/A) and my name, nothing else. I tried calling, went through the support menus and was told (by a recording) that Quicktime support was only available via the web. Tried calling to get key as the support pages suggest since I bought it from the store, but everybody I speak to has no idea how to route my call or who I should even be talking to. I can't believe I'm the only one who has ever had this problem. I finally gave up since it was obvious nobody at Apple seemed interested enough to solve what should have been a very simple matter. I'm not about to pay another $30 to see if they actually send me a key this time and I'll not spend another buck on any apple product.

I got the same results on a purchase I made yesterday. I went back and reloaded the Quicktime 7 program I had with a new download. But I got the same relults. I noted that after typing in the Product code emailed to me ("QT 7 PRO . . .") the Quicktime Control Panel box for Registration Code changed to what looked like an actual code -- but below the box it said Invalid Registration. Could someone please toss us a rope?

same here!!! i also tried calling apple help and they said i had to talk to someone else but their office closed at 6:30. argh. i'm happy that it's not only me though...cuz now SOMEONE HAS TO LISTEN!!!!!

i was really psyched about my new imac, but i have to tell you that getting help with errors, etc has been a PAIN! everytime i call apple, there is a 30-50 min hold time (it says 15 min)... c'mon customer service- get with the times!!!

I got an email from Apple today acknowledging the problem and promising a refund. As soon as I get the refund and confirm the online system is working I will order again. Still a bit of a pain, but I'm impressed they admitted it was their problem.

I never did call my CC Company as I figured they'd want to give the vendor a couple days at a minimum to fix the problem.

Hopefully the others with this same problem got the same email.

I also downloaded Quicktime Pro and didn't receive a registration key which should have come in the email. I called Apple support and was told it was a known issue and that I would be refunded my $$ in 5 business days. I asked why there wasn't a block to downloading, since there was a known issue with the email that is automatically generated once they take your $$? They could not answer my question...

Here is the email I received. You may want to check your email to see what product they think you ordered?

What is iWork 08? I didn't order this product?

Looks to me like their automated email system is all messed up and I had better call them to insure I'm getting a refund for the $$ that I paid regardless of what product their system thinks I ordered and wasn't properly delivered.

I'll let you know what my outcome is...
