I have only had this computer for about a month now, and now my mouse button is making a very annoying click sound before the button is actually pressed all the way. It is on the left side of the click button, and somewhat all the way to the right, and when you barely press it, it clicks...like a high pitch click. It seems like that part of the mouse button is loose maybe? Has anyone else experienced this? And what do you think I should do?
MacBook 13",
Mac OS X (10.4.10),
30gb iPod, 4gb iPhone
When I get home from my vacation, I'm going to take this to the mac store and see what they say about it. I hardly use the thing enough for it to start doing this only a month into owning it.
Hey I talked with Apple tech support today told them about the clicking noise I'd been hearing. And they said if it happens every now and then, then it's okay. The tech said it was just the hard drive acting normally.
One trick is to remove the battery and gently press the metal plate directly under the button (not the touch pad). Don't do a single spot but the entire area which is about two inches wide. You just want to shape the area slightly. Install the battery and check the button. You might have to do it a couple times.
Hey! I am haveing that same exact problem and ive only had my macbook for about 2 weeks! Did you ever figure out why it was makeing that noise and how to fix it?
i know its not that, becuase its directly related with the mouse button itself. there is like one small area in the middle where i can still press it and it sounds as it should, everywhere else i click makes that noise. im going to bring it to the mac store tonight if i can make it after work, if not tomorrow (before i go taking anything apart haha)
I just started having this problem, and I solved it just by playing around with the button. My clicking noise / click resistance was mostly on the left side, and I just started leveraging up the right side of it and jiggling it around. I didn't pop the button out, because I don't know if that's possible or not, I just moved it around, jiggled it, and let it go free again. Afterwards, my button went right back to normal after weeks of this problem.
so i was about to take it in to get it looked at, and before i went it magically stopped doing the clicking noise. so i didnt bring it in. today it is doing it again. i tried the leverage thing, but it almost seems like the mouse button is going to come off if i do this. im going to try to remove the battery and press on it underneath to see if that helps too.
phantom mouse click didn't want to be discovered by apple care!
Is your mac still covered under warranty? If it is I would consider just taking it back and having them repair it. I sent mine back and got it back within a few days. No problems since.
I actually had a similiar problem where when i click the clicker it would make a weird sound ike something was weird or inside. But after a while it went away from constant use and it doesnt make a clicking sound whenever i use it anymore. This is on a macbook o_O
