Flashing orange to green?

My Macbook Pro power adapter just starting doing the same thing. What the heck is the deal...With either a full charge or while charging (just from plugging and unplugging so always almost charged), the LED blinks 5 seconds GREEN then 5 seconds ORANGE (AMBER).

It's charging, pins don't seem to be stuck.

Just installed the Battery Update (1.3), seems exactly the same. I'm going to try the SMC reset when I get home.

I reset the SMC as per directions. No noticeable change whatsover...is there a log/console that notes it even happened so I can be sure?

Calibrated the battery and my problem seems rectified. Geee Yah!

I'm having the same issue on my Macbook. It will sometimes flash directly from green to orange and back again, constantly. Sometimes, if I leave it unplugged for a few minutes, it will charge back up and then remain green. Other times, it works perfectly to begin with. I'm pretty good about training my battery once a month, and I don't have any stuck pins, etc.

Any other ideas would be welcome. It's not a huge deal, but it is mildly annoying.

How did you calibrate the battery?

Mine was just doing this last night and since has been stuck at 26% !




any ideas?

Mine has just started doing this too. It has also started cutting out at around 77% - suddenly the computer switches off without warning or proper shutdown & won't start back up again.

My other battery is still working fine, so it's obviously a problem with the battery itself.
It has about 150 cycles, so should have plenty of life left in it I'd have thought.

Has anyone found a solution to this?

My MBP started having the same symptoms as well, are there any updates from anyone? Has apple replaced the power adapter, battery, etc?

I've started having this happen too.

What are the steps I need to take please in resolving the problems.

I've seen the cable go from orange to green even when its 97% charged.

The laptop justs stops and turns itself off too.

This same thing has been happening to me. It started after the 10.5.1 update. I get the intermittent green-amber flashing on the charger. I can never get over about 95% charge before this occurs. Not only does this thing not charge all the way, I can't get it to discharge. The laptop shuts off (no warning or anything) around 30% charge. I hope this gets fixed in a hurry. My Macbook Pro isn't very mobile at the moment. 😟

Same thing with mine. I can never fully discharge due to the instant off after 30 minutes of use. It flashes about 60 times per minute. My mini logger shows it cycling over and over.

Ok I became so frustrated with this doing it during class (caused my screen to darken and brighten with every cycle), that I took the battery out completely. It was about 75% at the time I took it out. It stayed out for about 2 hours. When I put it back in I have had no issues with the cycling. It now works just fine.

Mine does this at random intervals as well, and I've only really noticed it since I upgraded to Leopard. It's driving me mad!
