Macbook cannot connect to wireless network. Help needed please.

My wireless network consists of a Windows PC connected to a 3-Com wireless broadband router/modem. This has WPA password protection enabled.

My Dell laptop, my iMac and my brother’s Macbook can all connect to this network without any problem. My Macbook can connect to this network via Ethernet cable without any problems.

My Macbook can connect to my brother’s WPA password protected wireless network without a problem.

I have played around with all the settings in the Network box but still can’t connect. I have rebooted the Macbook and the router, still no success. I have disabled WPA protection and still can’t connect.

I’m now running out of ideas. Your help is appreciated

I struggled with my wireless set up for days. I installed a Linksys wireless WTR54GS router, and had no trouble connecting to my mac with a cable, however as soon as i tried to connect wireless, it kept asking for a password. I kept entering the password that I had established for the router, thinking that is what it was looking for. After resetting the configuration & passwords on the web site numerous times, it still wouldn't work. I finally entered an encription key that was listed on the network settings printout, and low and behold - success!
If the system had only been a little more explict by asking for an encription key instead of password, I could have been up and running a lot sooner.

Not sure if this is what you are experiencing or not, but it may helps others.
